Two Marin County local boys show up in France, most notably Paul Greenwood, never thought I would see the day. Here were are in the village of Saint Michel de Montaigne finishing up with a 56 mile ride through the back roads of southwest France.

Here we are again at the Chateau de Pitray. The pictures below are of the various buildings on the 200 acres property.

Above is what we now call the garage (built in 1868). Originally it stored the horse carriages and tackle, all the way until the early 1950s.

... today the farming material is all mechanical.

The stone masonry on the Garage and Winery is a different style than the Chateau, a more rustic look.

The Plane trees that line the alley as you arrive to the Chateau from the vineyards.

The Chateau de Pitray also has a small chapel, alongside the terrace in front of the entry. As you can see this side is covered with vines.

If you walk around the chapel there is another magnificent perspective of the Chateau.

Inside the Chateau below, in one of the dinning rooms, the wood-work on the ceiling. Not all of the rooms are trimmed out with wood on the ceilings. The ceilings are about 20 feet high on the ground floor.

Below is the Grand Salon, on the same floor as the dinning rooms, and here the ceiling is an ornate plaster finish.

Below a shot of some of the hardware that can be found on the doors.

Below is the "small" dinning room and the chimney in the room. Here you can get a perspective of the ceiling height, again 20 feet.

...watching the Tour de France on TV in Chateau Pitray.

Below is another building on the property. This is on the south end of the Winery, with the pigeon tower and the enclosure where the pigs, chickens and other farm animals were kept.

Below, and off in the distance is the other barn, where the hay was stored to feed the farm animals and also were the cows, used to pull the plows, were housed. What is in there now? Tractors, farm equipment, my grandparents old cars from the 1970s with about an inch of dust on them.
