This is a 17th century manor in Brittany. This picture is deceiving concerning the size of the building, it almost looks like a small two room house. However, the open window is 5 feet tall. There are several other photos that include a person along side the building to give a better reference for the size of the house. The top of the roof is 45 feet high.

The tower is a staircase to access the upper floor. The building is not lived in during the winter. My relatives come here only in the summer, as again a building like this is not practical to heat in the winter, and therefore not very comfortable either. The staircase inside in the winter can get as cold as 40 degrees.

The front facade of the building which faces the courtyard and is enclosed within the stone walls that surround the property. Note my aunt in the picture for a proper perspective of the building's size. Below as well.

In the photo above you can see the front door, with it's rounded curved top, and it looks tiny compared to the wall.

The holes in the wall, which have not been filled, were spaces to insert wooden planks to support scaffolding.

This is an old safe from the 17th century, that stays open permanently for fear that if it is closed it could never be opened it again.

Another classic and typical cup-board in this old country home, something that Martha Stewart would make an endless fuss about.
