We have now left the Mediterranean coast and are 2 days into our 8 day traverse back to the Atlantic. Above is one of the beaches at the town of Collioure, and below is the 14th century Fort at the harbour. For those of you who know Curt and Rebecca, there they are.

This was the sunset at dinner. It is slightly odd to look west at a sun that is setting over land. I live on the coast of California and I am use to sunsets over the ocean.

These are the foothills of the Pyrenees looking towards the Mediterranean. I kept thinking how much this area feels and looks like southern California around the hills of Malibu and Los Angeles.

A great shot of the jersey for the trip, with all the cols (mountain passes) listed on the pockets. Tour de France yellow a little ambitious, but so is the ride. Respect.

This is a deep granite canyon that we made our way up to then access a mountain pass called the Port de Pailheres.

Charles takes a moment as he climbs the Port de Pailheres. Note the vegetation is much more lush than by the Mediterranean.

Me and Charles at the top of the Port de Pailheres. Once again we are having wonderful weather ... knock on wood that it doesn't change.

Joe and me moment's before we attack the steep decent off the Col de Pailheres.

All I can tell you is that we are looking west towards the mountain tops that we must ride. Oral is from Jamaica and he is thinking that this is nothing like Jamaica. The past two days of riding have totaled 154 miles and 15500 ft of climbing.
