The Alps 1000 mile Challenge

1000 mi. -  100,000 ft. -  12 stages

Adventure. Accomplishment. Awe.

A trip through the Alps is a fairy tale for anybody. But for fit, devoted cyclists it’s the journey of a lifetime.

The col du Croix de fer,  Telegraph,  and the Galibier.  Three big climbs that make up the "Marmote" loop,  ending with the Galibier.  Here the view down the north side of the Galibier,  still 5km from the top.  Epic and hard,  just like we like it.

If you have ridden in both the Pyrenees and the Alps you can recognize the difference.  This photo is without a doubt the Alps,  with a high granite peak that juts up into the skyline.  Lop off the granite peak and then you could mistaken this for the Pyrenees.

Looking down the east side of the Col d'Izoard.   One of the countless iconic climbs in the Alps.  This tour climbs the Izoard on both sides,  stage 3 and 8.  On the other side of the snow topped peaks in the horizon is Italy.
