Testimonials, Alps.

With the Alps, Allan has put together another superb adventure for the avid road cyclist, full of the extraordinary views, challenging climbs, exciting downhills, good food, excellent roads, great company and above all, a lot of fun. As with the Pyrenees trip, the pacing is perfect, the routes just tough enough to let you bask in the glory of having done something great, having shared the iconic Alpe d'Huez or Col du Galibier with the greatest cyclists of all time. You can feel the tradition. Breakfast at a nice family owned hotel, lunch somewhere on the road, raid the van for food at arrival, hearty dinner at the end of the day, all of it full of commentary by Allan who is as happy easing you into the French culture, as he is challenging you to surrender to the joy of riding as if you were a bunch of 12 year olds again...but with more money and experience. You'd be hard pressed to find better road riding anywhere in the world, maybe equal, like the Pyrenees or maybe the Dolomites, but not better. On top of that, Allan executes it with good humor, great organization, perfect choice of routes, pacing and hotels; he is capable of managing the unpredictability of such a trip with a practiced ease that would surprise you. And he offers all this at a great price. Most other tours I've seen cost double and/or get lost in the wine experience or some other BS. Allan's trip is about the love of riding. I've got to know a part of France in a very intimate way and I am better for it. This is an adventure that I plan on repeating for as long as I can. Allan, many times many thanks.

Thanks for a a truly awe-inspiring trip! “The Alps 1000” tour was a resounding success due to:

  • a smart itinerary of ride for 4 days; rest day; ride for 4 days; rest day; ride for 4 days
  • the challenge of 1001 miles with more than 117,000’ of climbing
  • the superb scenery of the French Alps; at times I found myself simply overcome by the beauty of the mountains
  • fantastic riding company and camaraderie
  • an atmosphere of high level cycling in the spirit of challenge and good, plain old fun
  • courteous drivers, great road surfaces and gradients, along with tough climbs and ripping descents
  • the timeless experience of riding through the narrow streets of ancient villages
  • timely & comprehensive van support on the road
  • superb French cuisine in the AM and PM, topped off with nutritious fuel while riding
  • your abiding love of cycling and all things French

Be well my friend Allan.

Simply the best cycling vacation ever. I didn’t realize it before I went about the relaxation of having someone else manage all the details about where to stay, where to eat, which roads to ride. We truly wanted for nothing. Just show up each morning, eat breakfast and get on our bikes for yet another spectacular day on the road.

I had very high expectations in terms of the scenery. I’ve ridden extensively around Oregon and California including the High Sierra. The French Alps were so much more breathtaking. Every day was another best day ever. We rode the same climbs as we see in Tour de France. On an occasion we rode alongside one of the teams doing their last minute high altitude tune up for the Tour.

The Alps Tour is an extreme cycling challenge, no doubt. But when riding on perfectly paved roads, taking in awe inspiring scenery, then dining on authentic Provençal meals, in the tiny mountain towns in Southern France, you hardly notice the pain. For those of you looking for a training boost...my VO2Max went up 20%.

From Inside Alps cycling tour, in a word “ breathtaking"! From From Inside Alps cycling tour, in a word “ breathtaking"! The course takes you through many of the iconic climbs of the TDF. The ascents steal your breath and the views from the summits take it again. Galibier, Alp d' Huez, Telegraph, d'Izoird and the others exceeded all my expectations, even on my second trip. The support on and off the road is second to none and always close by. To finish your day there is always a fantastic meal, a cold beer or regional wine and a welcoming group dynamic to discuss the days adventures. The accommodations are warm comfortable and friendly. It is hard to imagine a better way to experience the French Alps other than by reliving the epic adventures that await.
