Ride Across the Pyrenees !

The cycling trip of a lifetime

... 1000 miles

... 100,000 feet

... 12 days of riding

... August 27 to Sept 11 - 2024

4 years ago I modified the 4th stage to add a little more climbing into the day. Part of the result is this area in the Catalan region. Epic. Especially the Gorge du Galimus.

Another challenging day on the bike and the longest day of the tour at 130 miles. True to form like all the other stages it is spectacular, and it achieves our first objective of reaching the Mediterrenean. There is a fair amount of climbing, 8700 feet, but the absolute elevation stays below 2000 feet. This stage also transitions us into the Catalan region, a marked contrast from the rest of the Pyrenees. At the end of the day everyone is both elated and tired, as it should be, with the comfort that we have a rest day on the coast in the port town of Collioure. Congratulations, you've just covered 429 miles and 32,329 feet of climbing in 4 days. Rest up and enjoy exploring the quaint seaside town of Collioure.

If you look at the picture above there is the tree lined road next to the stone tower.  And this is the view when you're on it.

The Gorge du Galimus. You'll be stoked that I modified the stage.

Overview of the first 4 stages of the tour, from Biarritz (on the Altantic Coast) to Collioure (on the Mediterranean sea).  The black line represents the border of France and Spain.  Day 2 includes the Col d'Aubisque in the beginning of the day.

These are the 8 stages returning from the Mediterranean sea to the Atlantic, all in the high mountains.  Again the black line is the French/Spanish border
