The "topo-map" view of stage 7.

3 serious climbs and 1 a little less serious, adding up to over 10,000 feet for the day. At this point in the tour you realize the indispensible need and value of the sag-wagon. Without it you couldn't keep up with all the hydration and calories to keep your body going. It is another outstanding day of riding. Remember, with each climb there is also a radical descent. Today also has beautiful transitions between climbs. Every ride, every day is glorious and heroic. Just saying.

And the corresponding profile of stage 7.

I'm not making this stuff up.

I'm glad we ride down this and not up. It's a 3km descent (be careful, steep), that acts as a pathway to a valley that leads to our next climb. In 2019 the TDF came up this road. Brutal.

Overview of the first 4 stages of the tour, from Biarritz (on the Altantic Coast) to Collioure (on the Mediterranean sea).  The black line represents the border of France and Spain.  Day 2 includes the Col d'Aubisque in the beginning of the day.

These are the 8 stages returning from the Mediterranean sea to the Atlantic, all in the high mountains.  Again the black line is the French/Spanish border
